Hi mbaxter, welcome ot the PCHF!

You should just be able to use the 2000 pro disk as an "ERD"

Is that error the whole error message? or is their more? we may be able to fix it without using an ERD.

chit >< i'm a bit too new to this 'threading' so bear with me. i supplied you with the entire error message and am working feverishly to repair the damage. i'm currently typing on a rental as i am attempting repair on the other. it seems as if the registry was corrupted when i caught the cold and there is no auto.exec file and other vitals needed to boot.

autoexec hasn't been required to run since windows ME. 2k and XP definatly don't use autoexec.bat or config.sys files.

MS mentions here that you also need an ERD.

I'll see if I can source one for you, but I'm not sure if you will be able to download it off the internet.

Ok, from the look of it you need to have access to another computer with Windows 2000 installed, and follow the instructions on this site here.

How to Create an Emergency Repair Disk in Windows 2000

If one of the other tech's can point you in the direction of an actual download, that would be great.

Yea, i completely understand that frustration.

I can only suggest you try and contact a PC shop that is microsoft certified as they will most likely have a copy of 2000, and a spare pc, so the ERD can be created.

I've kept looking but can't find a download anywhere unfortunatly.
