Angry [Fixed] Windows Installer
This is a problem that is not just with me but I have seem others struggling.
When downloading programs then program seems to arrive okay but when trying to exec it I get the message as follows:-
The installation package could not be opened.Verify that the package exists and that you can access it,or contact the apploication vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.
I have just downloaded an update to the installer to see if this will help,but it doesn`t.
I have Windows XP Pro.Service Pack 2.

My m/c has AMD Athlon XP 3200+
2.19GHz
NVIDIA GEforce FX5600XT.
Thanks for any help.

Trend is good..keep using it, but in conjunction with good spyware scanners as well.

Hi guys. I can't do much without the importand bit.. wich is the Hijackthis log.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)

Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).

Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply plus an Hijackthis log. (see the prework)

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
