Default [Fixed]HELP! Power problem...

Hi I am searching for help regarding my PC which runs Windows XP Professional.

The problem is that when I press the Power (ON) button, the computer switches on, runs the startup process for approximately 3-4 seconds, and then turns off without warning.

This is too little a time for the PC to display any messages or any warnings so I cannot locate the problem. After this happens, the Power (ON) button doesn't work until i remove the power cable from the back of the tower, and re-insert it, then after a few seconds the same happens again.

Please someone give me a helping hand in how to fix this...

Yours, Ben...

Hya Nevelal, welcome to PCHF.

I'm afraid it sounds like it could be a motherboard or processor that has died, but if you open up the case and then try to start the pc, do all the fans start to work?

And also try to boot up with all non essential internal and external hardware disconnected.

Hey I opened it up, started it without all of the unnecessary hardware and noticed one of the two fans attached to the motherboard wasn't working. I paid for a cheap new fan to be fitted and now it's up and running again!
THANKS for the help, excellent advice, I will definitely be using this website more...
Thanks again,
Ben
