i am having a huge problem withing my vgc ra828g! i'll be as
brief a possible but, hopefully, give as much information as
possible.
for a couple of months i have had a problem while running
adobe premiere (i realize it's not a sony product) click to dvd, and dvd's burned.
a quick review of problems: while viewing the adobe time-
line progress would stop necissitating clicking the run
button....2/3 to 3/4 through editing, an error window would
pop up stating that windows must shutdown. when coming
back a good bit of work would have been deleted...audio at
about the same point would drop out on a subsequent dvd,
once with an awful buzzing sound that showed up on my
hard drive and in the click to dvd playback (that situation only once, however, other times just a drop out to the end of
the dvd. recently five dvds that were copies of a master dvd
had this symptom. recently five more dvds of the same
master were burned, and all checked out on the dvd/cd rom
player, only to have then them show an error message at
the beginning of playback on a dvd player.
these are the programs on the computer: spysweeper
5.0.7. 1608 by webroot (keyblocker has been disabled)...
AVG 71F_371a669...(both of the previous are constantly
updated)...nero startsmart, nero media player media files
(2).wav...quicktime 7.1.0.0...Itunes 6.0.4.2...and nero 6.6.
1.4 setup has not been installed, although it is saved on the
desktop.
another problem is that my sonic record now refuses to
burn copies. with the master (not copy protected; my
copies) in the ROM player, and a blank disc in the burner,
a pop up window says the blank disc is blank and it won't
let me burn. i have to burn through nero start smart.
this is all the information that i can think of that might be
helpful, because this seems to me to be a bigger situation
than i can handle myself.
should there be more information needed, just ask.
thank you for any help that you may give, because it is
affecting everything that i am doing.

p.s. my graphics card is an ATI Radeon X600 XT that has had two update
drivers downloaded onto my computer. the latest was at a time that could
coincide with the beginning of my problem.
thank you

Hi jbm, welcome to the forums.

I've removed the email address and full name from the start of the thread, as it's not good practice to leave those on public forums.

Now to your problem. Lets start with the video card. Have you tried downgrading the drivers to see if this fixes it?

GaRHaR...it may not be coincident that your suggestion mentions my video
card. it may have been in pc world just yesterday that i read about a prob-
lem, or possible problem with, in this case ATI, that a change in the bios
dealing with a setting that should be changed in the peg link mode(whatever
that is). i did recently download an update in my ATI graphics card!
thanks, i shall call ATI tomorrow morning.

PEG link is something in new computers, which I thought was exclusively to SLI systems...
aparantly I thought wrong.

Let us know how you get on with ATI tomorrow.

GaRHaR...it took awhile to ferret out a telephone number to reach a warm body at ATI, but when i did get someone knowledgeable i briefly listed my
problems, and his suggestion was to delete ATI with ad/remove and down-
load the latest driver, Catalyst 6.8, and i have done that. i haven't had a
chance to check it out, but i will re-burn the five dvds tonight to see if all
comes out okay.
thanks for your suggestion! it just may be the problem solver.
i tried to check out the peg link mode question, but i got no definitive an-
swer from the man to answer your question, and i could very well be wrong
in my assumption.
thanks, again!
