I have computer that I'm working on and on board nic has a green and amber light, and both are on. Now I don't know if the amber is telling me something is wrong or just activity light when traffic is flowing. It is a Dell Demension 4600 and I wasn't able to connect thru that port, given I've taken the steps to see if there is a firewall blocking traffic from coming in and that it automatically finds the internet server in network connections. So I went and bought an ethernet card and it still won't let me connect and the modem is fine cause this is how I'm able to talk to you now so it is working. By the way, this is a totally different computer I'm using, the one I'm working on is sitting beside me. I know its something blocking traffic but I just can't put my finger on it which is why I'm asking for you guys help.

Hi there, sorry for the late response - do you connect directly to the modem or do you use a router?
