Default Laptop Monitor Issue

I recently Dropped My Laptop computer, and the screen needs to be replaced. currently i have connected and old monitor to the laptop so i could at least use it.

Now for the Issue.

For some odd reason i cant view any video files anymore, they will play with audio but with no video,
somone told me that in some laptops video files can only be viewed on the Primary Monitor.

NOW.. i go into the display option's, and then settings and i got Monitor 1 and monitor 2.

i take it monitor 2 would be the monitor i plugged in. but the box that says use the monitor as my primary monitor is greyed out (un-clickable) any ideas on how to solve this issue?

Hey Lurkz!

Welcome to PC Helpforum!

Sorry for the late reply.

Have you tried unclicking Monitor 1 as your primary monitor first?

Yup, Bluefish is correct.

Problems with dual monitors is the secondary monitor doesn't play video.
You'll need to set up the external monitor as Primary...

But at the same time, laptops have the FN button, and it's either F4 or F5 i believe that will switch this for you without actually going into the display properties. It should have a square and then a / and then a square within a square if i'm thinking correctly.

These options will give you Laptop monitor, external monitor, or both.
You want just external monitor.

Keep in mind that it's possible that you lose display for a second clicking these. This is no problem, click again, and you'll switch to next mode in which your monitor will be enabled again.
