Default Windows XP boot failure....Please help

Hi

I'm new here

I have a serious problem:

I had Windows XP and yesterday i did something (I don't know exactly what) and now everytime I try to boot my computer I get a message saying that my computer system is missing and nothing happens.
I've tried using the GHOST program from DOS (hope you know it). I saved my partition as an image (27 GB in size) on 4 DVDs, but when I tried to restore the partition from the DVDs I got an error message. I've tried using GHOST twice, and every time I tried to restore the partition, I got an error message.
I have a spare computer in home so i'm using it now and I've downloaded bootable floppy disk.

My main question is if there is some way I can try to restore my "C" partition, becuse i thing that even though my system fails to boot, the partition is still there...
I know the other option is just to reinstall Windows XP alltogether, but I had so many important things on my "C" partition, that I want to try any possible way to get it back before i give up.

Your help and any other useful suggestions and ideas would be very much appreciated!

Thanks.

yep a repair will not destroy the data.

Just slip in cd and when the scren appears click ENTER to install Windows...Then chopose the install you have noiw then press repair this install..Do not press repair at the main menu

Edit: If you can read my misspelling lol.. They need to make keyboards for guys who have big hands and fingers

When windows startups up it will load some stuff. Next it will ask you what you want to do.. Click install Windows or press Enter..Next it will search for Windows on your PC..It will then ask if you want to repair this installation this is when you click yes. It will load windows again on your pc but without taking any files away..

Sure here is the cd I use..

Ultimate Boot CD - Download the UBCD
