Default xp home or xp professional?

All of my friends have told me that windows xp professional is so much better than home edition, but they havnt really told my in what ways. i have built a new pc and am limited on cash, and, seeing as how xp professional is about 50$ more than home edition, depending on where u get it from, i was wondering if it would be worth my money to buy xp professional or home edition. i am also going to buy the vista upgrade when it comes out, so i am not so sure if it would be wize to spend extera money on professional when i am going to transition to vista shortly.
so, basically can someone tell me what is so much better about professional as compared to home edition? ty

Howdy HugeBacon and welcome to the site.

Xp pro and home and a few differences. Xp pro I think only has 1 or 2 extra programs. If you going to network and suff its best to get pro. If not stick with Home. I use home and I can do anything pro can do.

They must have made changes to XP home then because out of the following above I have them all as well??? Not saying your wrong just someone made a mistake.

I have a dual cpu system and run Home on it. I have had dynamic disk formats. rtc.? Maybe they made a change in sp2?

The biggest things between Home and Pro...

Pro has gpedit.msc..home doesn't
Pro can join a domain..home can't

Once again, these are 2 network functions that aren't exactly relivant for a home user, but i deal with them all the time so Pro is the only way to go for me.

XP Home, for the standard Home user, is perfectly fine - Pro has alot of extra junk you'll never use.
