My ISP is Sprint and I see ATT still listed. Guess its safe to fix that.

Why all of this? Well, I am trying to reduce the the resources comsume so I can have more for online gaming. I hope it will also reduce some of the lag. I know lag can be from a bad connection.

Also have a question and I dont know if it belongs here. Shortly after my last WindowsXP update I noticed that I no longer have to click on OWNER to finish the booting. To be honest I dunno if thats a result from the update or just something went wrong with another program. So, should I be worried?

In regards to your question about "Owner"...it's if you prefer, you can have that setup quite easily. It's just the way Windows user settings are set.

In regards to your services, I'll leave that for the security team who will give you a hand

Hya Tarrifist.

You can safely fix these with HJT to get a little better performance, fix the 04's only if you dont want them to run automaticly on each boot up (you can afcourse still use them manually), and the 06 only if you (i.e. with Spybot ect) or an system admin didn't set it.

Run HijackThis , select to do a "system scan only" and then place a check beside each of the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = Yahoo! SearchBar Home Page
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = EarthLink - Welcome to myEarthLink
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = Welcome to AT&T Worldnet Service
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O2 - BHO: EarthLink Popup Blocker - {4B5F2E08-6F39-479a-B547-B2026E4C7EDF} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {D7F30B62-8269-41AF-9539-B2697FA7D77E} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nwiz] nwiz.exe /install
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvMediaCenter] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat
7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.att.net
Now first close all windows and browsers other then HiJackThis , then click fix checked and close HijackThis.

And then reboot your pc.

Garhar,
Thanks. I was just rather spooked by the changed.

Joe5,
Okay I did as you suggested. Thanks. System booted up little faster. Is there anything else to do with the HJT or are we done?
And thanks for the help.

you can download bootvis. It will speed up your boottimes alot at least..

|MG| Free Download - BootVis 1.3.37.0

Also might want to do another HJT log to make sure the nasties are gone
