When I try to Attach a file using Hotmail it always fails.

I think JacktanCap is on the right way, your file may be too big for Hotmail.
Sound Recorder creates .wav files, which are in fact always big except for when they're of 1-3 seconds in length.

You can convert these files to mp3, so that they get smaller.

But, are you able to send other files via your Hotmail account?
I mean, does the problem only occur on this file?
