Personally, if you are not going to use it for "heavy" gaming then I would go for a Dell.

Starting at $1200 you have the lovely Dell XPSTM M1210 (gives you the gaming option too )
Specs

Inspiron E1705 - great for school work AND watching movies etc @ $939
Specs

Dell are getting a bit sexier nowadays, they've always had the reliability etc but they are starting to think more about asthetics than before.

Also note that they recently recalled 4 million notebook batteries because of fear of over heating and catching fire.

Not on either of those models...and Apple also had the same problems.

So what do yall think about Hp's.

I was looking at these.

HP Pavilion dv2020us 14.1" Widescreen Notebook Computer With AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-50 With Enhanced Virus Protection at Office Depot.

HP Pavilion dv5220us 15.4" Widescreen Notebook Computer With Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology And Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2050 at Office Depot.

The things im sceptical about are the video cards, can yall give me a experienced opinion in this matter.
