Default New mobo & cpu and wont boot with xp

Hello, just joined the site, so hello to you all!!

Right I have just brought two new mobo & cpu's. They are a MSI RC410M and a intel celeron D 346 which supports 64bit processing.

I was hoping to chuck this in the case and it would boot up Winxp Pro already installed on the existing HDD.

When i try to boot the machine up it comes up with the b&w screen with options to boot form safe mode, last known config, start windows normally etc, whatever option i choose the pc resets and comes back to this screen.

Ive tried reinstalling xp onto a different drive and get a blue screen of death when it tries to copy the installation files over after a format.

Please does anyone have any ideas of what i might be missing. Ive done this before swap and mobo and cpu out and its worked fine after installing the new drivers. could it be that its a 64bit cpu and WinXP Pro, does it need to have the 64bit operating system?

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to the forum

You will need to do a fresh install of either 32bit or 64bit XP.

Hengis is correct.

Windows XP needs to be installed on each different Chipset.

You can switch it between motherboards if the chipset is the same, but it appears this time that isn't the case.

A reinstall is unfortunatly the only option.
