Default [Fixed] No Audio Device -Big Problem!

Hi, first i would like to apologise for overusing these forums as i have many problems with my pc atm

I checked on the internet and this seems to be a very commen issue with Windows XP.

I cant get any sound! When i go into audio devices and sound properties it says i have no audio device and i cant go into any settings as they are marked grey. Im using the original speakers and original speaker port my computer came with. All the drivers are fine and up to date.

Any ideas?

Hi Sam, you don't need to aplogise

If we didn't have people come online and ask us questions...we wouldn't have anything to do...which isn't fun

Can you please post what kind of computer you have for me?

It sounds like the drivers may have been damaged somehow.

Also, can you right click on My Computer, select Properties.
Then select Hardware and click on Device Manager.

Goto Sound, video and game controllers, and make sure there is a "-" next to it. This will show you all the devices under that category. Are there any with a yellow "?" or "!". Or is there a red "X" through the picture?

I have a:
Pentium 4, 3.4 ghz
Microsoft Home Edition
Service Pack 2
2.00 Gb Ram
Nvidia 6600 graphics card

In device manager, under 'other devices', multimedia audio controller has a yellow '?' next to it. But everything under 'sound, video and game controllers' is fine.

I think that your audio driver not installed the right way ...

do you have a mother board CD ??? it should contain the driver if it's built in your mother board .....

otherwise ,,,, please mention the type of your audio device or your mother board ......
