Please help me out. the problem gotten worse now. After I shutdown the fans and light wont turn off so i just let it be but when i try to turn it on again it wont turn on. I had to turn off the power in the back and then hold the power button in the front simultaneously turning on the back power switch. Please help!

I still think this is a hibernation/standby issue...but if hibernation is disabled....i'm out of ideas sorry

As far as the jerky video, did you reinstall the drivers for the graphics card when you reinstalled the os? If you dont have the setup disk for it, you can go to the mfgs site and download the latest drivers for your card. If you have the option, save them to your hd, and burn them to disk or floppy for next time. For the shutdown problem, i agree with GaRHaR, but heres a few other things to check. Got to control panel>power options>advanced tab>power buttons: make sure its set to>shut down. Also you might go into bios setup, and look under power , and see what settings you see that might be related, it will depend on what bios you have. Write down all your bios settings before you change anything, try changing some of these settings and see what happens. You could also reset the bios to default settings, try it, and if it does or doesnt work , go to your list and set them back like they were. Try the graphics card drivers first though.
