Default Date an Time Properties Problem

hello everyone..

i hope u guys can help me out..

ok, i've recently bought a new notebook. a HP Pavilion dv8302 notebook. Once i bought it, i brought it home with me and formatted the whole notebook meaning the original XP Home OS in it were formatted as well. Including a special area in the Hard Disk Drive that contains HP's stuff. I reinstalled a new XP Pro OS in it [Non-Pirated Copy Of Course]. Then, everything was fine in it cuz i went to HP's website to get all the latest drivers and softwares for this notebook of mine. However, i noticed 1 small problem in my notebook. The time/date shows the correct date/time. however, when i turn off my notebook lets say for 2 hours. when i starts it back. the date/time is not the correct time. it shows the time when i shut down 2 hrs earlier. so that means if i were tto shut it down for 2 months. n then turn it on again. the date would be 2 months ago and time as well. i find that irritating although that seems like a small problem since i can use the auto update with an internet time server or just manually change it myself. but its really irritating..

So i was wondering if u guys could actually help me out with this small little problem.. thanx in advance at everyone who stop by this post. THANX! ^^

Hi Krizalis, welcome to the PCHF!

This is a rather strange issue. This is going to be a silly question, but have you set the correct Time Zone in windows?

yup, just double checking that's all

try to get all the simple stuff out of the way first...is your windows 100% up to date from the auto update?

Hi there,

Can you check that you are having the same problem with the time in the bios. If that is the case then your CMOS battery (on the motherboard) may be faulty or failing.
