Default Formating Hard Drive

Hello, due to the very speedy responces on this forum, i choose to use it a lot

Anyway, i have two hard drives and one of them is full of virus' and i would like to format it (C: drive). The problem is, all my music is on that hard drive. If i transfer all my music to the other hard drive(D: drive), is there a way i can just format the C: drive so all my music will remain untouched in the other hard drive?

Hya Sam.

Where is your O.S. installed on? On C: or D: ?
Or do you want to format, and reinstall windows aswell?

But yes, if you are sure the other drive is virus free, and you don't copy anything unwanted along during the backup then you can indeed do that without problems.

The OS is installed on the C: drive.

Do i just right click it and click on format? or do i do it another way?

So that means you want to reinstall windows aswell?

Then the easiest thing is to format the C: partition during installation of windows. See here for instructions:

BTW, we could also have a go at cleaning it up without formatting and reinstalling windows, if you are interested.

well, i dont mind completly reinstaling windows, as long as my music is safe on the other hard drive.

The two main virus' i have are ismon.exe and ishost.exe

After the Prework please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
