Exclamation [Resolved] Administrator?

Okay, so I recenly put together a brand new awesome PC and put in one of my old hard drives with Windows already installed. During the boot, all goes well until you get to the windows loading screen and then it just freaks out and gives you the blue screen of death. I have been told that this is because windows doesnt recognize the new chipset in the new motherboard and freaks out. Here is one of earlier posts.

http://www.pchelpforum.com/motherboa...ustration.html

So what I was going to do was just as he had suggested, reinstall windows on a repair installation so I dont lose all my data. Now also what I had noticed when I had booted up in safe mode (it would boot all the way without the BSOD if I put it in safe mode) is that for some reason there wasnt just my profile in the logon screen, there was also and administrator profile that I had never seen before last night, it just appeared. The administrator profile had password protection and I put in every password i could think of and it wouldnt let me in. I though "oh well, doesnt matter, im just going to repair windows anyway". So I put in the XP disk and started repairing it, when it asked me what drive I would like to reinstall Windows to and drive C was listed as #1, I typed in 1 and hit enter. It then asked me what the administrators password is!!!!!! I have no idea, i tried leaving it blank but it didnt work. The Administrators account just appeared out of nowhere with a passoword that I sure didnt put on there. I tried going in on safe mode to my account and going to user profiles to see if i could delete the administrator but it wasnt even on the list. Im clueless. PLease help. Thank you. I know that was alot to read, sorry, lol.

Hi Ksince.

The reason you can boot into Safe Mode is due to the fact that it doesn't load any drivers..or as few as possible. The administrator password will have been set when windows was first installed - if you didn't install windows, try and contact the person/company who did. They should have the answer for you.

If you are unable to do this, there may be a work around (I'm not sure on this method however, as I've never done it).

While in Safe Mode, install the new chipset drivers.

If this also fails, I know someone at my work has a disk they insert into the floppy drive and it sets passwords to nothing. I'll see what's on disk for you, but only if the other 2 methods fail.

Let us know how it goes.

Yea, it wont load the drivers disks up in safe mode or install anything. As for the administrator password, my girlfriends dad built it and put everything on it but i formatted it not too long ago and set everything up myself. Im pretty sure that when I set it up I didnt set an administrator password but even if I did i would know what it was but its not working. I have one more thing im going to try though, if i set my BIOS to boot from disk before harddrive then maybe i can install the motherboard drivers from the disk before even booting to windows. Idk, im going to try though. Thanks

Hi Ksince, I'm happy to see people trying things on their own as well as knowing when they need help It really is good to see when people don't solely rely on others to survive.

Unfortunatly I won't be back at work until tomorrow, so in about 12 hours I should be able to have an answer for you in regards to removing the password - but that's a fairly long time to wait....anyone else got any ideas for Ksince?

oh sweet, whenever I boot from the motherboard driver disk it doesnt install the drivers but it asks if i would like to make a driver disk on a floppy, hold on, let me get a floppy out and make one for windows XP. Then maybe I can intall the driver via floppy disk.

Hi Ksince, have you tried logging on without the password? If it still insists, try one of these
