Default password protect windows folders

Hi,
I've got an HP Pavillion dual core etc running windows family edition. I've also got 2 young children who like to have a go on the PC, so I want to protect some of my files from destruction.
So I looked into it on the Microsoft website and it tells me that if my c drive is NTFS I can do this, my C drive is NTFS but I still can't do this.

So can someone Please please pleeeeeeeeeeease tell me how to set up folders to store files in that I can password protect.

THANK YOU

Hi Al,

This is a topic i've answered successfully in the past. Can I link you to http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-x...ssword+protect. The NTFS is mentioned, and also simple file sharing.

Hope this helps mate, if not let me know.

Default still not working what about encryption software??

Hi,
Thanks for the link but I still can't get it to work. I was looking this afternoon and there seem to be many encryption softwares out there. Would these be even better at protecting files?
Are these to be recommended?

Thank you

Hi Al, if you are running multiple user accounts - you don't need to worry about 3rd party software.

However, if you only have the 1 account on the computer - then yes, one of those 2 programs will work fine - i'd probably gofor the pcworld referenced one, as it's coming from a bit more of a reputible company.
