Default [Answered] Screen resolution

Hello! I have a HP Omnibook 6000 laptop with Windows XP Home SP2 and 8MB ATI Rage Mobility graphics.
I am having a problem with decreasing screen resolution from 1024x768 to 800x600 (using control panel> display). The screen in the new resolution appears centered with black edges around, instead of being stretched. Please tell me, what could be wrong and how could I make my Windows work in Full screen with the resolution of 800x600!

Hi zikers, and welcome to the PCHF!

There isn't really a problem with your laptop screen - this is normal behaviour for them. Laptops have LCD screens, and as such have a "native" resolution, which that monitor was designed for.

The reason they have done this so the 800x600 doesn't "stretch" to the borders, is to keep the image quality the highest you can get. Unfortunatly I'm unaware of any software to override this feature.
