Hi hannibal,

I've never actually seen that kind of error before...and unfortunatly I can't see the solutions as i'm not a paying member of experts exchange.

What you can try to do however, is as you only have access tot he task manager (which is an exe i might add) goto File -> Run -> sfc /scannow

I'm not sure if this was a suggestion, but make sure you have your windows cd handy as well.

u dont have to be a paying memeber. i am no member. but at the bottom of the page there are several solution-comments.

see this thread for more info: http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-x...ue-cd-rom.html

and i can open all programs as before, only if i want to start exe files which are on cd-rom, the error message comes up.

if nothing helps, i guess i'll have to reinstall my os again. the second time within 2 months *sigh*
am starting to backup my c:\ drive.
