Unhappy Problem with hardware interrupts in XP

I recently removed my SATA HDD and fresh-installed WinXP on a 160GB ATA drive. I also switched frm a NVidia FX5200 card to an ATI Radeon X800 XL (AGP). Everything worked fine for the first day but from the next day I noticed a massive slip in graphics performance. Task manager showed no process hogging the CPU (99% system idle process) but yet the CPU usage is consistently arnd 60%. Process explorer shows hardware interrupts to be the culprit, taking up over 55% of CPU usage all the time. Now I am confused as to what is causing this...is it the ATI drivers, or the SATA RAID thing, or maybe something else? Some forums said that this is due to driver conflicts etc...help me plz!!!

Hi xfiles_guy,

Welcome to the forum mate!

When you are in task manager looking at processes, you say that the system idle is 99%, yet your CPU usage is 60%? Can you tell me if your services.exe is using any CPU mate? I'm being led to believe you have unneccesary service(s) running, taking up your CPU. Alternatively, you may have a virus, but we'll come to that if need be.
