I can't log onto my computer! Winlogon.exe is now off my computer, apparently, my sister thought it was a virus. So how can I fix this and get it back onto my computer? Is there anything at all that I can do? Thanks a lot.

it is not my area of expertise but if you have a windows cd you can boot from the cd and do a repair install of windows

Hm..yeah that sounds okay. Well, what do you mean by windows CD? I have the service pack (SP2). Will that work? Thing is that I need something that'll execute before I log on because I am unable to log on. Thanks for the reply!

hey sinhais422

if you have your windows xp cd you can go in bios (by pressing either del or f1) when you boot your pc and from there you can change the boot sequence for it to boot from your cd-rom and perform the repair install from there

Welcome to the forums sinhais.

A repair installation would definatly fix your issue here.
But you can also extract the Winlogon.exe file via the recovery console.

To do this, boot off your Windows XP install cd in. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.

Enter the Administrator account password.

Copy the fresh version of these files to the System32 folder by typing cd\windows\servicepackfiles\i386

copy winlogon.exe c:\windows\system32

Reboot the computer

You'll have to get one to be able to get your computer working again.
Borrow one off a friend for now if you must.
