And also, in order to start off the Windows XP CD, what should I do? Press F1?

It seems you are feeling the pain of being left without a windows cd to. I have exactly the same problem. I think it's a disgrace that when you get a new PC with Win XP they don't supply a CD with the software on.

I appreciate that piracy is a big issue and not fair on the software manufacturers but all I can say is ...... typical Microsoft!

Apologies for getting off the point.

Yup, unfortunatly a repair installation is the only way to go if you sister has gone through and deleted things from the logon.

A repair installation installs windows directly over the top of your current install. You won't lose any of your files, but windows won't run as it did originally. Once you get back into windows, I'd suggest you backup everything, and format so you get a nice clean install of Windows...nothing beats it.

Also, tell your sister to stay out of the registry...it's not something to go deleting things willy nilly...as you have found out first hand, if you remove 1 file fromt he registry, it can bring your computer to its knees.

Ah thanks dudes. But I have another problem. I'm really sorry to bug you all like this. Anyway, my problem is that I got the Windows XP Professional CD and I started the repair installation only to find out that my Product Key doesn't work. I think it is because my computer was originally a Windows Home Edition and was upgraded to a Professional edition. And my dad's coworker upgraded it and he is no longer with that company, so I have no clue what the Product Key for the professional is. So what do you think I should do? Can I get another product key for a Windows XP Pro edition from a friend or something or what?

You're not bugging us...it's what we're here for...

Problem with that XP cd key...your dads co-worker used a cd key from work, which is mildely illegal...the only answer i can give you that IS legal, is to go buy XP Pro, or try reinstalling Home.

Any illegal answer will not be posted here.
