I tried this and I recieved a message saying file copied, but when I tried following the instructions provided from Microsoft I got a message saying file not found (msdos.sys).

As I recieved a message saying file copied does this mean it has been copied to the C drive. If so when I type in the instruction attrib ......... etc, or; rename .......... etc, I get the file not found message.

Any ideas. Thanks for the ongoing assistance.

Hi Aces,

The only thing that I can think of is that in renaming the file as msdos.ysy you might be typing it as msdos.sys?? I made that mistake the first time around.
let us know and we'll take it from there

I tried again to make sure but the same keeps happening.

When I copy the msdos.sys file it says 1 file copied, but then when I try to rename it says file not found.

I beginning to think that I'm never going to sort it now.

I have literally tried everything.

Thanks for the ongoing help.
