Hi Aces,

The autocheck.exe should be in the i386 folder on the xp cd.

I think that you have made a bit of progress with the reimage but the NTLDR missing is fixable, look here and try the fix. to get a bootdisk try the site here.
let us know how you get on

radar's right...progress has been made and now you're at a stage that is more commonly known. Let us know how you go with the fix.

Once again, thanks for the ongoing help

I tried the win 98 boot disc and the instructions from the Microsoft site. When I typed in the first command according to Microsoft (attrib -h -r -s c:\msdos.sys), I recieved a message saying file not found.

I recieved a similar message when trying the next command. I also tried the other commands from the guidelines, i.e. sys c:, and recieved a message saying cannot specify default drive.

Is this file supposed to be on the boot disk?

Do you know if there is anything else I can try?

Hi Aces,

Ok, sorry about the delay, you can find the (msdos.sys) file HERE, scroll down the page, it's in alphabetical order.

Hi,

I managed to get the disk that you recommended. The problem is that I cant seem to get the file onto the hard disc.

Do you know what command will work to copy the file from the floppy onto the hard drive?

Then I will be able to follow the instructions from the Microsoft website.

Thanks
