hello bhsparks and welcome to pchf

we have an amazing team of techs here that have several areas of expertise

do you have your bios set up to boot from your cd-rom assuming you have a windows xp cd you can access your bios by pressing either del or f1 when you boot up your pc and set your boot sequence to boot from your cd-rom first

if you need more information let me know

looking forward to your reply

hello bhsparks and welcome to pchf,

Are you reformatting an old HD? or are you formatting a new HD?

Did you enter windows setup when you 1st boot up your PC?

If you need to start over follow this set up

boot up PC
Press an Function key to enter setup (either F2 or F12)
insert windows installition disc
choose the option "boot from cdrom"
Follow steps to formatted HD.

at this point it should go into copying windows files and not booting to A:
