Windows XP/2000 - comp hangs..but not at "saving your settings" posted in the Operating Systems forums; recently my comp started to hang after i went to Start and hit "Turn Off Computer"...after i hit turn off computer it usually takes ten minutes for it to proceed ...

Question comp hangs..but not at "saving your settings"

recently my comp started to hang after i went to Start and hit "Turn Off Computer"...after i hit turn off computer it usually takes ten minutes for it to proceed in saving my settings etc.etc. where it does not hang or anything...just rite after i hit turn off computer.

i have a hp pavilion a720n with 512 of ram so my computer is usually fine...until i hit that cursed "turn off computer"

any help is appreciated...thx

does this problem happen only when you turn it off, or when you restart it as well?

not sure because i never restart my pc..only shut down but im pretty sure its both because it hangs before the menu with the options of shutting down or restarting so technically it would hang at the menu
