Default Problem with USB devices

Hi I am new to this forum. Any help with my problem will be gratefully received.

Recently I had to do a "destructive recover" my PC using an embedded piece of software called PC Angel. My PC did not come with an XP disc, but instead if something goes wrong this piece of software sorts it out (supposedly) and recovers your PC.

Since doing this certain USB devices I use regularly will not connect properly to the PC (my digital camera, MP3 player, card reader etc). The PC detects them and then says there is a problem. The problem comes up as a Code 28 - driver not installed.

When I try and go through the process to reinstall the driver a problem occurs and I get the message "the data is invalid".

Any thoughts as to what might be causing this and how to fix it?

Thanks
Steve

Hya Skstct.

Have you already updated windows since after the recovery? If not, see if updating helps.

If not, then try finding and installing updated drivers for your motherboard. If you need help with that then post the brand/model of your motherboard or pc.

My motherboard is an ASUS k8v SE Deluxe. I will check Asus for any updates. Xp should be up to date.

Any further assistance gratefully received.

Can't see anything on the ASUS site which looks useful. Any suggestions?

Thanks. I will give those a try when I get home.

Now I just have to fix the problem with Half Life 2 which I have just reinstalled! I may be posting elsewhere on this forum for that one!
