Is there an XP version comaptibility problem re VPN?

We have a small peer ot peer network.

The PC connected to the broadband router is running XP Home, and Internet connection sharing is enabled. It has a wireless NIC too.

Another PC has a wierless connection, and is running XP Pro SP2. it navigates to internet via the first PC's internet connection. I tried to set up a VPN connection on this PC but it fails.

Internet and home network connectivity are fine.

I ran the wizard, and the "automatically dial another connection" option is not shown.

I presume I don't need this as it is a broadband connection. However the connection fails, as if there is a setting I've missed.

I tried the same connection on a different home network (XP home), and the VPN works fine. The wizard DOES show the option to "automatically dial another connection first" on that PC :confused:

Is there an obvious setting I've missed out or need to check?

Hi blast9, and welcome to PCHF.

Might i suggest that using Windows VPN is a royal pain in the backside, and you should use a seperate program. The program i speak of is called Hamachi and is extremely easy to use and uses almost no resources.

Takes about 5 minutes to set up (if that).
