Default Windows Explorer Problem

Right, yesterday, windows explorer crashed on me, and wouldnt open back up, so i restarted my system, and now explorer doesnt open properly any more, it appears in the processes tab when i use ctrl alt del but, is does not appear on screen, neither does the desktop, i have ran a spyware check, and a virus check which found, and healed/removed all the viruses they discovered, however when i restarted still nothing! Anyone have any ideas?

Help is much appreciated..thanks

if you got task manager (ctrl+alt+del) select Explorer.exe and End Process (say yes to the question).

And then File -> Run -> type in explorer it should reload explorer for that instance. If this works, then there's something you can do, if it doesn't work - reinstall windows.

Also download and run Stinger (see link below in my sig) , and have a quick look in here:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

and post back with the filenames of the files present. (if any)

If you see taskmgr.exe or msconfig.exe there then delete them and reboot.
