OK Let me give you all the details of what happened. It was extremely hot outside today (the heat may potentially have led to the problem). I was using my computer, I had just played a game, and I was watching a video on youtube. Suddenly the monitor turned itself off and then turned back on. A little while later, the same thing happened. A couple hours after that, the problem occurred again, but this time the original screen doesn't show up, the problem endlessly loops, and so the monitor just shows black. I have no idea what the problem is. Could it be the heat? Could it be the length of time I used it? Also, I turned on my other computer and then it froze on internet explorer. Now whenever I turn on that computer and try to click and icon or run a program, nothing happens and the computer freezes. Need help for that too. Thank you in advance for your help, feel free to ask questions for more details.

I doubt your first problem was the time you used it for, I have left mine on for weeks at a time and it was fine, and my monitor was like a hand-me-down from Fred Flintstone. I'm afraid I dont have an idea of what it might be though. The second problem to me sounds like maybe a virus or Spyware cause my computer has done that same thing and after removing a virus or whatever it was better. So you might wanna try running some anti spyware and virus software, and if thats not the problem, well it didnt hurt. lol There are some good programes to use in my sig. But I'm sure that a real tech guy will be around shortly to help you out more. Good luck!

Is the monitor a CRT or LCD?

the switching off may just be a loose power cable that gets nocked every now and then. Have you checked to make sure those are in properly?

With the other computer - it sounds like there's a bit of malware or some corruption. Try Start -> Run -> sfc /scannow

K heres the problem, I can't see anything because the monitor keeps shutting itself on and off and the monitor is just when it does that, and it does that nonstop. It's a 17 inch LCD, I tried to plug in the computer wires into a CRT monitor, but the CRT is so out of date that its missing some slots to insert cables. I also reconnected all the cables and I get the same result. My friend said that it could by my video card being overused or getting burned out. Anyhow I'm going to buy a new monitor and see if it works.

What are you doing when this happens?

Just lookign around windows? watching a movie? game?

Check your video card temperatures. Your friend may be right.

Yup, it could very well be the video card then.

Try testing another one (if you can).
