Default [Resolved] Desktop Icons

For some reason the text on my desktop icons now have a blue background which i swear were transparent before. I have not changed any settings for this to occur so i am wondering whether this was caused by some spyware.
I've gone to Desktop Properties/Appearence/Effects and changed 'smooth edges of screen fonts' to Clear Type but this does not solve it.
Can anyone help as this is very annoying

Thanks

I've now resolved this by deleting the Web items on my desktop via Display Properties/Desktop/Customize Desktop

Hya Clueless.

Glad to hear you fixed the blue desktop already.
But that is indeed a very commen symptom with a malware infection.

If you want to check for that then please follow the instructions in the "Prework" link below in my sig, follow those instructions and post back with the two resulting log files then we'll have a look at those.
