Default [Fixed] File Type Problem

Hi Redfelt89 here

I recently discovered that all my files are stating what type of file they are within the title of the file (an example would be 'Bongo's.mp3' or 'Horse.jpg') and when i try to delete the .mp3 or .jpg from the title i cant open the file afterwards.
Is there any way i can alter this so that the the type of file doesnt appear in the title?

thanks for your help

Redfelt89

Hi Redfelt89, and welcome to the PCHF.

There is a simple solution to your obvious discomfort.

If you can goto My Computer, and select Tools -> Folder Options
Then select View
Scroll down until you find Hide extensions for known file types and make sure there is a tick in the box. Then select Apply to All Folders near the top, and close the windows. Close My Computer, and the next time you re-open it, you should have the problem solved.
