Default Windows Media Player

I have no idea what Forum to post this problem in so if I'm in the wrong place please excuse.
Anyway, just in case there is someone here that can help me, here is the problem:
I put a DVD in to play on my PC as I often do but now, starting just today I get a pop up window that says: "Windows Media Player cannot continue because of problem with digital copyright protection" [photo attached].

I went to the Windows help/troubleshooting section but, and I'm embarrassed to say, I still cannot understand what to do to correct the problem.

Can someone help me [in laymans terms].

Thank you

Hi DoctorGallop,

It's a tricky one to try and talk you through, as i'm following the DVD troubleshooter myself. I've skipped the first couple of basic checks, and come to 'Do you need to install or update a decoder?' Have you tried using the links to update your decoder?
