Default **** Computer!!! Cant boot up, cant install xp as it says "no hard drive found"

My bloody computer is close to getting a good slap.

Right, whenever i turn my computer on it does the initial screen thing then instead of going into the windows icon as xp starts up, it demands for a boot disk/cd to be put in.

After putting the xp cd in it then obviously goes to blue screen xp setup. However whenever i try to reapair (r) or install xp (enter) it goes to a screen saying that no hard drives were detected and re-boots causing the whole cycle to start again.

I had the same problem earlier in the year and the shop fixed it quickly without any loss of data.

Any help would be great and also, as this is my 3rd request on this site its time to donate if this can be fixed (no pressure guys!!)

Thanks loads

Nick

What kind of cable is connected to the HD? (not the power cable)

Try resetting the cmos. Turn off the pc and remove the powercord , then remove the battery from the motterboard for a minute or two.

Replace the battery and powercable and boot the pc up.
