I remember reading a news article not too long ago, that described there was a big auditaurium(spelling) with hundreds of people each with laptops taking down what someone was saying...(i think it was a Dell conference, and a guy was talking about a new product...i could be wrong)...they were all typing away at their laptops sitting in their laps...and this one guys...blew up and went up in flames...and if memory serves correct, it was a Dell laptop.

I'm saying this - purely because laptops can overheat from almost anything...even a fault inside the case

The only way your adapter could be causing that kind of heat/energy from usb...is if the usb port itself is faulty.

Find another laptop/pc and plug the adapter into it, hold your hand on it to see if it warms up...if it does, remove it immediatly. I don't think it is the adapter causing this, but I'm not ruling it out until it's tested.

Could it just possibly be my wireless adapter which is broken because I took the adapter off the end of the wire, so it was just the wire and no matter how many times i put that in or out the USB port nothing happend but when I put the adapter back on the end and but thw wire back in it turned the laptop off again.
