Default Laptop not working properly

Hey, I''m a new member so I"m not sure if this is in the right place.

I posted my PC problems on another site (talklfc.com) and someone on there refered me to this place so I hope one of you can help me.

I''ll copy and paste my post from that website

Right, my laptop seems to be near its death and I need some help.

It shut down last night automatically because it got overheated. When I tried to start it up today I got an error message.

This is the error message:

Windows could not start because of an error in the software
Load needed DLL's for Kernel

I also got another error message before that, which read:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\windows\System32\Drivers\Isapnp.sys

I''ve tried to follow the advice on the Windows website, which said I had to put in the windows CD and follow the instructions. But instead of loading from the CD it goes straight to either one of those error messages again.

For some reason I now get the screen that starts with ""We apologize for the inconvience bla bla bla......"" and then you can chose safe mode, safe mode with networking etc etc. But whatever option I chose, it goes to the error message again.

I''ve also had the windows loadup screen once, with blue lines going through the entire screen
So what to do now?

Hi Davelfc, you will need to go into your laptops BIOS and check that the CD Rom is set to boot first. Start your system up and press either the Del or F2 key on your keyboard.

Done that. It loads the setup screen, but there are dodgy lines all over the screen and when it starts loading the dll kernel files I get an error message.

Has my laptop died?

How old is the laptop?

It sounds like the motherboard of the laptop has decided to overheat and cook itself.

Its about a year old. If that''s the case, is it fixable?

Warranty issue for sure. Most laptops have 2-3 years warranty on them (they do in Australia anyway )

Contact the company who made the laptop, be prepared with the model number and the Serial number (located underneath the laptop).

Problem is that I''m in Holland at the moment (where my parents live), but will fly back to England next week. And I can''t do without my laptop, especially not in england where there is no other pc available.

If its a warranty job I''ll probably lose it for weeks if not longer, which simply isn''t possible for me.

I''ll probably go to the shop where I bought it on Monday and see what they can do for me.

Ta for the advice anyways
