Default laptop reformat

I have an ACER laptop and I would like to reformat the hard drive as I have a virus on it ....

The laptop came with System Recovery Disk and no floppys -
When I try to reboot via the CD select reboot form CD and save settings the laptop loads Windows XP but does not give me option to reformat ---

The virus is also there - AntiNorton Virus comes up with 86 viruses it cannot delete .....and laptop is incredibly slow ......!!!
How can I get back to factory settings ?? please help !!!

My work is backed up - so no fear of losing it !!!

Hi Parry, and welcome to PCHF, If you can still boot into Windows, have you got the eManager under the list of programs? If so click on this and then click on eRecovery.

Do you know how to get into your laptops BIOS? If so boot into the BIOS and make sure the CD Drive is set to boot first and then insert the CD.

Well i find it would be best if you did this after you did the reformat. While in eManager, click on eRecovery and follow the prompts.
