I have this HP XT983 and it is running very very slow. It would also just lock up when I would do to much. Surfing the web would make it freeze.
So I go ahead and reinstall Windows xp on it and when it was doing that setup thing to check your internet and what not it ran very slow, so I went back and deleted that partition recovery console by HP thinking that was it. Because of this it could not find the OS so I go back to install it and with 7 mins left it locks up. I don't have a clue what it could be??? Maybe a full format would help it? Thats what I am going to do now but any help would be great!

As of right now I can't even install windows xp on it because it is going so slow! I have tried new memory a new hd a new cd rom drive and it still just goes so unbelivably slow! All the fans are working fine so I doubt anything is overheating.
What are they next options? Could the PS be the problem or is it just the mb or cpu? Please someone help!
