Default Crash to black screen and not responding!!!

i have
AMD athlon XP2700+
2.17ghz, 512mb ram
6600gt video card
not sure about power supply.

I have started having this problem today and have spent hours trying to fix it to no avail!!

When i go into any game (BF2 or Trackmania) i can load it up and play for a few minutes and then the screen turns black and the light blinks as if the monitor isnt connected... there is no response from keyboard or mouse but the actual PC is still running. it worked fine yesterday and is p***ing me off.

I checked video card temp....its fine
I ran a registry check and corrected errors but still no fix
I also reinstalled the games with no affect..

I havent made any significant changes to my PC and would greatly appreciate any help or advice provided!!!

Hey Kapok!
Welcome to PC Helpforum!

Are you also sure about your CPU temperatures?
Have you got the latest drivers for your devices?
