Default Sorry if this is the wrong place.

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this problem but here goes and apologies in advance!~

Last week I spent the day playing Age of Empires 3/Call of Duty 2/Guild Wars Factions etc all fine and dandy. I left for work at 5:40pm got home at 11pm my partner is fixed with age of empires 3 and so sat playing it in a boiling hot room for the duration of me being away!

I arrive home she is getting into bed my computer is shut down and I'm thinking hmm this can't be good... I power up my computer only to find either . . . . . or - - - - - across the black boot up screens! I thought omg maybe a cable is lose so I unplugged it and plugged it back in, things were fine.

I managed to get to my desktop and thought to myself I would try and see if everything is ok for a moment, I then launched Call of Duty 2 it was fine for a couple of minutes but then dots started to appear my pc froze but my friends on teamspeak could still hear me then suddenly my computer restarted!

My friend lets me have his old graphics card PCI 128mb Nvidia I put it in and all my problems had gone... For now.

So I was able to play games and things fine but I've now noticed I can't watch videos on web pages I can't use media players for videos or anything like that! I can't go on webcam on msn but I can watch them, I can go on cam on websites and watch webcams it's strange! When I go to watch videos or go on webcam on msn my pc will run the slowest I've ever seen a pc run! and if I manage to end a task (after so long of waiting for task manager to actually come up let alone the rest) then it will go back to normal

I've noticed tiny little glitches aswell for instance when I load outlook express I get random lines appear in different places here is a screendump!

My system specs are;

Windows XP 32-bit

512 RAM

128 NVIDIA PCI

AMD Athlon 64bit processor 3200+ 2.01GHz

I used to have a 256 Nvidia card but obviously that died.

PLEASE help

Regards

Hi Matt Lee!
Welcome to PC Helpforum!

Yes you've indeed posted it in the wrong forum section, but no worries, I'll move it for you to Windows XP section.

What is the browser that you use?
Have you tried reinstalling that one?
Have you also tried reinstalling media player(s)?

Have you got the latest driver for your graphics card?

I was using internet explorer 6, I've recently installed Firefox, I've formatted since not being able to do the above and recieving the above errors.

I don't really like to use media player I prefer winamp it has always worked fine for me but I've installed it a number of times.

And I think so because I have to go to the nvidia website to get my drivers for my motherboard, I'm not sure if this is the problem if I've got the wrong type of nforce chipset drivers because there were quite a few.

And thankyou for moving the thread (sorry again).
