Default crashing on video files

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums, hope to get some help

Everytime I try to open a .avi, .mpg, etc.. Windows Media Player just freezes, and then crashes along with explorer. drwtsn32 show's this:

Application exception occurred:
App: C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe (pid=576)
When: 7/3/2006 @ 11:06:20.062
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)
Can someone help me with this?

The same thing happens when I try to play it with Winamp. And also, explorer get's this error:

Application exception occurred:
App: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe (pid=4028)
When: 7/3/2006 @ 11:05:21.484
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

Hi Codilk and welcome to pchf, the first thing i would like you to do is follow the instructions in the pre work link in my sig and post back the resulting 2 logs.

Sofar it doesn't look like a malware problem. But could you post the Ewido log aswel?
