Unforunately it doesn't work, it just keeps asking for the disk.

A little update for you though. I've just realised that because of ctrl not working I can't access task manager. Also shift doesn't work. And for some reason I seemed to be logged into Windows Messenger (which I never use) but it doesn't appear on the taskbar, I just notice that contacts keep signing in. When I logged into Msn Messeger which I do use it automatically logged out. When I tried to uninstall Windows Messenger it didn't work.

Finally, and I'm not sure if this is related, but whilst I am writing this and try and hit the apostrophe key ( ' ) it opens the find function in Mozilla firefox and takes me away from what I'm typing.

IT seems to be getting worse, but perhaps all these other problems were there but I just didn't notice then?

HEEELLLLLP!

Hey Littlejones,

OK, to get to task manager, click on Start, Run, type in
taskmgr
Click on OK.

This sounds more and more like we missed something. Please download CCleaner and Spy Sweeper from my signature. Install and update both of them.

Please verify that your System Restore has been disabled, and that all hidden files and folders, as well as all system folders are showing, (Right click on My Computer, Tools, Folder Options, View).

Boot into Safe Mode, run CCleaner, make sure all options are selected, including Advanced, answer OK to any warnings. Click on Analyze. Click on Run Cleaner.

Next click on Issues, make sure that all options are selected. Click on Scan for Issues. Click on Fix Selected issues, create the backup using todays date. allow it to fix everything that it finds. Close CCleaner.

Run Spy Sweeper, under Options, Sweeper Options, make sure all of your harddrives are selected, make sure that all options EXCEPT, Do Not Scan System Restore Files, are selected. Click on Sweep, Start. Let it fix everything that it finds. Save the log file to post back here.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hi LGW,

right, I've done both the things you've mentioned, and I can also confirm that System Restore was turned off and hidden files and folders were showing.

The CTRL, Shift problem still remains (although i have always been able to hold down shift and highlight things so oddly it doesn't effect everything) but here is the log file from Spy Sweeper.

Thanks for all your help, it is much appreciated, this is very infuriating as even if I were to go to the extreme of formatting my hard drive, I wouldn't be able to reinstall windows as the cd drive is broken. I would hate to have to go to that length anyway, so any other solution will be greatly appreciated. The windows messenger problem I mentioned earlier seems to have stopped appearing which is good - I'm not sure if it was related though.

Oh, and task manager still can't be accessed with CTRL+ALT+DEL, presumably because CTRL is not working. However when I right click the taskbar and choose task manager that way, or the way you mentioned, there seems to be numerous svchost.exe. Some say SYSTEM in the user name column and some say NETWORK SERVICE and some say LOCAL SERVICE. I can count 8 of them by looking just now.

Thanks

Hey Guys,

@Dave, we do not allow trash talk on this site about anyone. Please refrain from that type of behavior in the future.

@LittleJones, well there is at least an idea of what is going on. You have managed to be infected with something called Ghostkeylogger. Spy Sweeper claims to have removed it, it is one of those spyware programs that monitors your keystrokes. I think this may be the root of your problem. Let me do a little research.
Looking forward to your reply,

Hey Littlejones,

OK, the program is called syncagent, Spy Sweeper is supposed to remove it all, but just to be safe, I want to check for the processes, files and registry keys.

Please open Task Manager, however you are able , click on the Processes tab, and look for syncagent.exe, if it exists, kill the process. Close Task Manager.

The next step is potentially dangerous to your PC, please follow my instructions EXACTLY.

Click on Start, Run, type in
regedit
Hit Enter. Once in regedit, it is imperative that you always make a back up of your registry. Click on File, Export, name the backup todays date, and save it either to your desktop or a secure place you will remember.
Now, click on each listing in turn; HKEY local machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run\
If it is present, delete the entry; Synchronization Agent

Delete the File, and then the Folders, if present
C:\Program Files\Sync Manager\Agent\syncagent.exe.

Do a search for a file called, syncagent.dll. If you find it, note the pathway, ie. C:\Windows\System32\syncagent.dll. Click on Start, Run, type in
regsvr32 /u (then type the pathway to syncagent.dll). This will unregister the dll file. Then you can delete the dll.

Hopefully Spy Sweeper did an excellent job, as usual, and you will find nothing. Then we can get back to work on repairing your keyboard functionality.

Looking forward to your reply,
