Windows XP/2000 - Not real posted in the Operating Systems forums; I noticed last night that a box in the bottom right corner of my mont said that the version of microsoft was not real! I got this pc from deal ...

I noticed last night that a box in the bottom right corner of my mont said that the version of microsoft was not real! I got this pc from deal about 4 years ago and have only reinstalled it 3 or 4 times...any ideas what is going on? The pc is running fine so im not sure what happen...I do tend to d/l different screen savers and such but i dont think that is the problem...also avg doesnt find any kind of problems and zonealarm has not logged any attacks..

Hi dragonlordrebel,

This is Windows Genuine Article (WGA). Basically, Windows runs a check to see if you have a genuine copy of windowns. And if you're recieving that message, then yours aint mate. The only solution we can give you for this problem, is contact Microsoft if you think it's a mistake. If it's not a mistake, you're gonna have to get a genuine copy mate.

thanks for the advice i understand that but i dont understand how it cant be real..it came preinstalled from the factory???

That's what I mean about it possibly being a mistake. It could be a case of your license expiring or something though. Would be an idea to contact Microsoft mate.

I have since noticed that...i went to the website and d/l the prog to prove i had a real copy and it said i did..yet i am still getting the wga message...im just not going to worry about it...thanks for the help guys...
