I have a sony vaio 2.6 ghz, running windows XP pro. Last week I booted up the computer and it gets to the desktop screen but doesnt load any icons, all that I see is the wallpaper. I cant do anything with it, and when i ctrl+Alt+del it i get a message that says "task manager has been disabled by your administrator", and I am the administrator.
Please help me, I got my life on that computer.
i dont know if ithelps, but the weeks before I had been having trouble with pop-ups that were continuous,and i had never had that problem before. Aslo my C drive was constanly running out of space

ok did you try booting up in safe mode (press f8 while booting up and select safe mode) and scanning pc for viruses and spyware


p.s can you see your desktop in safe mode?

so you can't boot up your pc at all not even in safe mode??

i can see the desktop icons in this mode, but have no virus scan just got rid ofnorton before the prob, was gonna install AVG. do have adaware though, willrun that
