Default Very strange PC problem - Not running certain .exe files

Well, my system will not run 2 specific .exe files. One of them is a Setup.exe from a disc and the other is a patch running on my C drive.

I really have no idea what's causing this as these are the only 2 files i've ever had problems with.

My hdd was corrupt a while ago so i had to use another HDD, installed windows on that, plugged the screwed HDD back in, grabbed some important files off there then wiped it clean. I'm guessing this is part of the problem however the files which arent running are on the C: drive which is a clean windows install and a brand new HDD.

Here are my system specs;

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, this is a very annoying problem :\

Hi there and Welcome to PCHF
We promise to treat your problem and not bite off your head for not being able to fix your problems :P

Allright, the Setup.exe file is on a disc yes? Have you tried cleaning the disc up a bit?

For the second problem however, sounds a bit trickier. What path is it? What are you trying to open? Need a little bit more info on it.

Your system specs are fine by the way

Post a reply when you can
Hope that helps a tad
Cheers

The disc is fine, I even downloading a seperate image of the disc (Bad I know, but I own the original ;\) and had the same problem.

I just deleted the patch and i'm trying another one atm, Will post the path if I get the same problem.

Trying out the prework instructions now, thanks for the quick replys

You're quite welcome
What disc are you trying to run the exe file off? (as in the name of the program)
Patch? I'm guessing it's a game yes? If so, what game?

Cheers

the patch is for Battlefield 2
The game is Tactical Ops, fairly old game that isnt very popular but I like it.

Ok, well I'm not too sure for Batlefield 2 but I would suggest checking with EA first since they know their software better.
As for Tactical Ops, what you may want to try is:
-Open up the Cd
-Right click the Setup.exe file
-Click Properties
-Click Compability tab
-Select "Run this program in compability mode for"
-Select any of the previous Windows OSes

Hope that helps for the Tactical Ops game
Cheers
