Default COM Ports

Hey. I want to use a DKU-2 cable to connect my Nokia 6230 phone to my pc so I can use a program to unlock it.

The application asks for which COM port the phone is on, but I don't know how to find out which one it is.. can anyone help me out?

Hya,

You need to install the cable driver first as it installs a specific port for the cable and phone to use. The cable should have come with a CD with the necessary driver(s) on it.

Hope that helps a tad
Cheers

Hey bridgey!

I think I understand your problem as I use a Sony-Ericsson data cable for my cellphone.

Can you right-click 'My computer', go to hardware tab, and click Device Manager.

Look for your cable, I guess it gives you the COM port number with it (as it does for mine).

Blue

The drivers are already installed and i've checked device manager before, it doesn't give any indication as to what COM port it's using.

Do you know why it does say wireless communication devices while you wish to use a data cable?

That could be a problem

A quick question though, is your cable an official Nokia cable? How & where did you buy it?

I think it's official, it came with the Nokia driver CD. It's a cheap £3 purchase from ebay and works perfectly transferring files across and things.

Nokia PC Suite is software by Nokia with tools for managing your phone connected to your pc. It added that area in device manager, not the cable driver.
