Default XP upgrade disaster

Hello....I had decided to upgrade and load XP Professional after contracting a virus......I thought it would be easier than trying to get rid of the virus. The initial install went smoothly...until the restart....for some reason the disc drive containing the XP software won't read the disc, and the computer just keeps re-booting.....any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks
