Default [Resolved] Need help with backing up data to DVD

I'm currently using Nero, and backing up certain folders to DVD. And when I run it it automatically refreshes the folders with any added files on the same folder on the hard drive, which of course means I end up with a project too big for the DVD.

What's the best way to back up certain folders? I was thinking maybe have a list of folders to backup, then when I want to do a backup, I could do with a program where I can drag all the folders into a project, then get it to back up the entire project over several DVD's, switching DVD's when each one is full. Is there software that can do this? Preferably freeware :P Hope someone can help, thanks.

Hi Ian,

My welcome to PCHF, as I have not had the pleasure.

When you are backing up the folders, are you replacing the current folder with the new version, or are you constantly adding the new version, copies and all to your backup?

Usually, there are settings that allow you to determine exactly what you want to back up, and whether or not to replace the previous copy. Before we look into another program, I just want to make sure that you have those settings determined the way you actually want them.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hi, thanks for the reponse, but I've found a way of stopping it from automatically adding the files, so it's fine now

Hey Ian,

Great news, but for the sake of other posters who come to the site, do you mind sharing what you did? It would be saved for posterity.

Looking forward to your reply,
