Exclamation huge problem

hi there, my CD/DVD drive doesnt work whatsoever, BIOS detects it, Windows detects sometimes but its useless, no disc runs.
Even if I try to boot from XP CD it fails, sometimes cause of some INF file error and then sometimes cause ´memory´problems.

I reinstalled windows from my second computer but i still dont know how to format the HDD to find out if that will help. my first comp is a laptop.

if anyone knows please help

Please give me a rundown of your computer specification
Also, check if the DVD/CD drive is fully plugged in

the drive works... well not really, it reads and spins but it just wont make ANY of its content open/run. Its an HP Pavilion something 5000 cant remember (too lazy to check).

Hey Azazel!
Welcome to PC Helpforum!

It looks to me like this player just came loose.
It's like a car without an engine, it keeps being recognized but it won't work at all.

You may want to try your player in another PC if possible though.

Blue

:ofor some odd reason it works now. I deactivated the CD/DVD in the BIOS then started up normal; so I decided to put a CD just for curiosity and it worked perfectly! so now everything is back to normal.

Thanks for the help guys!
